Derek Chan 陳武麟傳道

I grew up in a small island in Hong Kong where I first came across Christianity in a youth day camp and subsequently accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior in a Luis Palau’s Evangelical Crusade.  When I came to the States for college, God had graciously pre-arranged me to live with Chrisitan housemates. Their Christian lifestyles and faith influenced me positively. Thus, my faith in Christ was re-confirmed and started growing despite facing challenges and obstacles while adjusting a new life in a new culture and country alone.

God has been good and bestowed me with blessings. I met my wife Olivia in a Christian conference, and we are married for over thirty years. I greatly appreciate her patience and faithfulness to journey through life together. We are blessed with three children, Natalie, Justus and Evan. They are wonderful gifts from God whom I have the privileges to raise them while growing with them together. I’m indebted to Jesus Christ who has redeemed and transformed me by the Spirit. Although my faith journey is long and windy, Jesus is always by my side and has carried me through all the ups and downs. I’m truly humbled yet excited to have the opportunity to serve our Living God and the Chinese community in Chinatown and in the city as the Outreach Coordinator. In my leisure times, I like spending time with my family, running, reading and rooting for our beloved Bay Area’s sports teams.

我在香港的一個小島上長大，在一次青少年日營中首次接觸到基督教，隨後在包樂佈道會中接受了基督，成為我的救主。當我來到美國上大學時，上帝恩典地安排我與基督徒舍友同住。他們的基督徒生活方式和信仰對我產生了積極的影響。因此，儘管在適應新文化和新國家的生活中面臨挑戰和障礙，我對基督的信仰得到了重新確認並開始成長。

上帝一直很好，賜予我許多祝福。我在一次基督教會議上遇見了我的妻子Olivia，我們已經結婚超過三十年。我非常感激她的耐心和忠誠，與我一起走過人生的旅程。我們有三個孩子 Natalie, Justus and Evan。他們是上帝賜予我的美好禮物，我有幸在與他們一起成長的過程中撫養他們。我感謝耶穌基督，祂通過聖靈救贖並改變了我。儘管我的信仰旅程漫長而曲折，耶穌一直在我身邊，帶我度過所有的起伏。我感到非常謙卑，但也很興奮能有機會在唐人街和城市中擔任外展同工，為我們的永生上帝和華人社區服務。在空閒時間，我喜歡與家人共度時光，跑步，閱讀，並為我們心愛的灣區運動隊加油。
